About Us

We are a Canadian music group called The Parachute Club. We originally began playing in the early 80’s, had considerable success in Canada and abroad, then suspended operations near the end of the decade. We have performed now and again over the last few years, and this year (2008), have decided to resume playing on a more regular basis. Please stay tuned.

first fell in love with your music as a 19-year-old peace activist in Omaha, Nebraska, USA in 1985. it was the soundtrack for post-demonstration dance parties thrown by fun loving, pot smoking socialist witches. ’85 was a summer of love for me of sorts. thereafter, i moved to Chicago where i still live with my wife and cats, and a couple of years ago i tracked down a copy of Wild Zone, and am so pleased to love it as much as before, if not more. glad to hear that you may be playing more. the world needs The Parachute Club.

I’m a guy from the US (West Virginia) who happened to hear your band back in 1985 at Ontario Place. You blew me away. What super rhythms, music and fun.

Friends had already given me your first album, but I bought the next two. Thanks for the music and the memories that are still living inside my head. T.O. had such a great music scene in the late 70s and 80s that we never got to hear much here in the States. (our loss) Glad to see you are performing again.

    Wow, Hi!

I stumbled here from Wikipedia. I was trying to find out who did the theme tune for that 80s cartoon “The Wonderful Wizard of Oz”. That was a really great song. Was there any more to it or was it the part that was heard on the cartoon’s theme the entire song?

Time to remaster your catalog of recorded music and release them again either as individual recordings or a collectors set.

    To the band,

I am a big fan of the ‘The Wonderful Wizard of Oz’ television series for which you performed four original songs, all of which I love.

I am currently developing a website for the show and have interviews with several of the voice actors, and was hoping that I could ask you a few questions about your career and how you became involved with the show.

If you would be willing to take part, please contact me at the email address above. If not, then I of course understand, but do ask whether you have the lyrics to the songs and, if so, could you send them on to me?

Thank you for your time, and fingers crossed for a new album 🙂

    Yours sincerely,

    Dave Ward

    Hi…

I have a question… was it you guys who sang the song “Searching For A Dream” (at least, I think that’s what it was called…) in an English dub of a Japanese Anime of “The Wonderful Wizard Of Oz” back in the late 80’s? Someone said it was you… I’ve been trying to find the song for YEARS and have had no luck… if you could help, I’d be so grateful! Thanks!

Hi, I used to watch The Wizard of Oz cartoon as a kid, and was wondering how to get hold of the theme music you wrote, Searching For a Dream.

I can’t believe you are touring again. When I lived in Canada I use to go see you in Halifax and I still love your music and would love to see you again. I live in Ohio now and saw you playing in 2008 at the Toronto Pride on you tube.Anyway to get info on when and where you’ll be playing anytime soon. I would love to be there. Thanks

Do CD/MP3 versions of Rise Up or (my personal favorite) At the Feet of the Moon exist? My cassette has finally perished and I (of course) never took the time to transfer the songs to digital…

Any suggestions on how to acquire? I saw Wild Zone: The Essential Parachute Club on Amazon, but my love for the music does not extend to that kind of $$$.

    Thanks in advance…

Is there any chance that the four songs that you all wrote for “The Wonderful Wizard of Oz” could be posted? Or at least their lyrics? I have LOVED these songs for years, and would to have them in their unedited, wonderful entirety. Thank you SO much! 🙂

My brother tells me that you were at his wedding. What I remember is how much I loved your music, how sad I was that your group broke up, and how unfortunate it was that I lost track of your music.
Is any of your music available? Where could I find it? Especially Rise Up! It was like an Anthem for me, but got lost “in translation” from cassette to CD…
